  General Description:

• A custom system that is retrofit to a universal test machine to enable testing at LN2 and LHe temperatures (77 K and 4 K).
• MR supplies only the TTC/RCFC, the customer supplies test machine and liquid cryogens.
• Designed for Tensile, Compression and Fully Reverse Fatigue testing

Specifications:

• 100 kN or 250 kN capacity, 3-post self-reaction frame
• Test sample space 115 mm dia x 430 mm length.
• Threaded high strength stainless steel pull rods
• Grips and fixtures designed per customer request

Cryogenic Chamber:  

• Vacuum-insulated liquid helium/nitrogen dewar
• Liquid cryogen ports (fill and exhaust ports)
• Upper Pull-rod positive pressure seal port.
• Cable feed through port with hermetically sealed 32 pins for strain, temperature, LHE, and LN2 level probes.
• Dual channel LHE/LN2 Level Monitor
• LHe and LN2 vacuum-insulated transfer lines
• Cryogenic Temperature Control Option -Enables testing at intermediate temperatures between 300 K and 4 K. Proven 20 K temperature control within +/- 0.5 K.

Set of three (3) averaging high-resolution extensometers for cylindrical tensile specimens

• Versatile high-resolution extensometers for low-temperature tests
• Available with either 2.5 mm or 5 mm range
• For round tensile specimens with diameters from 5 mm to 7 mm
• Extensometer collars are set up on a 25-mm gage length and retain positive attachment for the design strain range
• The outputs of the three extensometers are averaged for modulus determination according to ASTM E111 
• Gage block is used to install extensometer attachment collars.
• Safe fall design ensures long extensometer life
